WordPress 2.8.1 was released on July 9th, 2009 and is a bug fix & security release.
WordPress 2.8.1 fixes many bugs and tightens security for plugin administration pages. Core Security Technologies notified us that admin pages added by certain plugins could be viewed by unprivileged users, resulting in information being leaked. Not all plugins are vulnerable to this problem, but we advise upgrading to 2.8.1 to be safe.
WordPress, version 2.8 “Baker,” was released on June 10th and includes improvements to themes, widgets, taxonomies, overall speed and of course, fixes for a number of bugs.

WordPress 2.7.1 was released on February 10th and includes fixes for a number of bugs. And if you’ve not upgraded to WordPress 2.7 “Coltrane” yet, we highly recommend it as the new interface changes make it a whole lot easier to post with fewer clicks. Plus, there is an automatic upgrade function in 2.7 which means that if you’re up for it, you should never have to manually upgrade again (or need to hire someone else to do it).

WordPress 2.6.2 was released yesterday and includes a patch of a potential security hole and fixes a number of bugs. If you allow open registration on your blog upgrading is highly encouraged. If you do not allow open registration on your blog upgrading is still recommended.
