Contest: Pick the teams in the K.R.A.P. League

Author Invites Readers to Name the Teams in Mythical League

INDIANAPOLIS, IN Tuesday, February 14, 2006 — Hoosier author Jeff Stanger is giving readers the opportunity to name the teams in the fictional Kansaska Retail Agricultural Products League. Five teams are located in the Kansas towns of Portis, McPherson, Vesper, Moonlight, and Parallel. The other five are located in the Nebraska towns of Beaver City, Minden, Geneva, Red Cloud, and Fairbury.

Kansaska is set in 1948 and follows a struggling semi-pro team from Portis, KS. The team’s GM must guide them to a winning season in order to win the hand of the owner’s daughter in marriage. The catch: the team hasn’t had a winning season in 19 years.

To enter, simply post your suggestion for the nickname/mascot of any of the above mentioned cities on trolleydodgers.com. Winners will receive a t-shirt with the name and logo of the team they helped create. They will also receive credit in the acknowledgements section of the book. One grand prize winner will receive a t-shirt, book credit, and an autographed copy of Kansaska.

Entries will be accepted until March 3rd. The winners will be announced on March 6th.

Kansaska is the second novel written by Jeff Stanger. His first novel, Trolley Dodgers followed the town of Bloomington, IN as they tried to buy the L.A. Dodgers. A sequel to Trolley Dodgers is also in the works. For this humorous adventure, the NCAA has invited Stanger to take fans behind the scenes at the College World Series.
